Weekend Happenings

So my roommates and I make a list every semester of fun things we want to do and these things are some of our favorite things we LOVE to do in Soonerland. It can be simple as going to get a snow cone to going to see a movie at the Warren. It usually ends up being one roomie that I tackle this with and wouldn't have it any other way. With the semester ending in like oh 4 day we had lots to tackle, so we did just that.

This weekend I had a LOT of homework to get done, but I did not let that keep me from having some fun. This weekend I had to get a final completed by Sunday that had to be 3 to 4 pages long and mine ended up being 5..vomit. I also had to get a PowerPoint presentation done by Sunday as well. On top of doing discussion posts. But lets talk about the fun I had.

On Friday I got wild and crazy and ordered pizza and rented movies and hung out!

Saturday I woke up did some homework then got ready for the day. My trusty side kick wanted to take a stroll around campus corner to hit all the fun shops and go to one other store that ended up being a major let down. Anyways we stopped at one of my favorite places known as Shoetopia and lets just say if i had an extra $1,000 lying around I could do some major damage there. We found few cute stores that had some really CUTE jewelry, but this college girl needed some more dough for that store.

We then came back changed to some cooler clothes and headed to OU baseball game. We went for two reasons or at least I did 1. being to get my beautiful OU class ring and reason number 2. was to watch some boys play ball in tight pants....did i really just say that....yes yes I did. We succeeded in both those things, so we got out of the heat and went back to the ole apartment.

We changed clothes again, because due to Oklahoma heat we were sweaty. The biffle and I decided to go get some tasty Mexican food and hit up our favorite movie theater the Warren. We saw Fast Five which I recommend everyone to go see. However I was ready to tell some parents behind me to call the babysitter now and for the dang high schoolers to park it.

Got home and I began the process of writing my paper. I have to say I have gotten really good at whipping out a paper in fashionable time and waiting closer and closer to the due date to do it. I blame it on the senioritis.

As for Sunday I woke up early finished my paper and was ready to fall over from tiredness, but when the biffle suggested we go get our nails did I was totally game. We then started watching Private Practice because we were 8 episodes behind.

We still have lots to do, but there was tons of quality time this weekend, which is the best part! Really going to suck come Sunday when we have to part our separate ways.

Mixed Emotions

Tomorrow I have my last class here at OU as an undergrad. I took a full load this semester. I left my electives to take in the end with my capstone, so I could truly focus on my campus, but that is not what happend. Instead my electives were more work than what I hoped for, but life goes on.

In the past I counted down every week until summer arrived, but this semester I did not. I am beyond stoked that in nine short days I will walk across a stage and receive my COLLEGE diploma, but I am not ready to be in a different town from my friends. These girls have been with me all the way and many have graduated, moved, but I still know that they are with me in spirit cheering me on.

There were days I wondered if I would ever graduate college, because it has not always been an easy path. I struggled in figuring out what I wanted to do in life. A wise soul once told me Jess you do not have to stay in one occupation your whole life. That is very true.

I have learned that parents know more than what you give them credit for and that they will always have your back. I can still remember the day they dropped me off at college with tears rolling down my face I was one nervous kid as to what college was going to be. I had high hopes, but was also afraid at failing.

So I am going to try and blog these next nine days straight of what I do each day, because my journay here at OU is coming to an end. I hope one day when I have become a nurse I will get to move back to Norman, which I like to call my second home.

I know that these past few days I have been doing a lot of homework, but at the same time I run at the opportunity when someone asks me to go do something. Another thing is I love to go to class and for some they like to skip and don't get me wrong I do to, but this semester I have had a hard time doing that because I love the class so much and my professor that I hate to miss. So tomorrow I will make one last treck across OU beautiful campus to sit with my fellow classmates for one last class!

HOORAY FOR THE WEEKEND

This weekend I have a lot of fun things I am going to be doing!

1. Tonight my roommate and I are going to an OU baseball game. To say that we are excited is a bit of an understatement. The weather today actually feels like spring compared to the last few days. I am ready to put on an OU shirt and some big shades and have some fun.

2. The Medieval fair is in town. If you love to people watch this is a awesome place to do so. Last year was the first year I went and it was a lot of fun, so I am going for round two. I personally like to watch the belly dancers, because it is so interesting to me what all they do.

3. I have to work on my capstone project this weekend. I am not excited about my capstone at all. I am so over it. It is the only homework I have to work on this weekend and I am not HAPPY. I want one weekend where I do not have to think about school. Did I mention my paper is due on Easter Sunday.......ughh

4. My Epangelia dress came in yesterday and I cannot wait to wear it!

5. I want to get a pedicure!

Hope you have a good weekend!!

I fail

Ok so one of my new years resolutions are all going well, but the one where I am supposed to be blogging more, but have no fear because I am going to try to improve. Enough with that now let you know what I have been up to and what coming up!

  • I started a bible study and it is going really well. I love the girls and love God as well so putting them both together means its extra great. There is about 18 girls total oh and I also make some sweet for bible which they love but they say their hips not so much
  • I have been eating a lot at home lately and man is seems to be working out well for my pocket book and I also try to shop with coupons.
  • This weekend is Spring retreat for my sorority and cannot be more excited. Plus my sister gets to come which makes it ever more better
  • As for working out I think I am either on the 4th or 5th week of working out with Jillian and seeing good things on the scale. I will let you know soon just how much I have lost!
  • Tests are in full swing aroung here. I had a test Monday and another on Thursday. Not to mention the butt load of papers I have been writing!
  • Oh I want to get a puppy for the apartment because nothing makes my heart smile like a puppy can.
  • I got a pedicure the other day and it really makes me want Spring to be here.
  • I also have been drinking a ridiculous amount of water everyday and at times I feel very water logged!
  • Well I don't know much else so back to studying I go!

Hope you have a great week!

I am doin what Jillin Micheals likes to call 'The Shred'

Well as of 11:30pm I have completed my fourth day of "The Shred." I like to say that I am still alive and still kickin. This workout is really intense, but I like it A LOT! It's only 20 minutes so it does not take that much time out of your day to get your exercise on.

I am sure the people who live below me just love when I am doing my jumping Jack's and the jump rope. You do all sorts of crunches and with my experience you will be able to tell that you did them. And by doing those jumping Jack's hurt like the devil going down the stairs the worst, but coming up hurts almost just as bad.

Something that boggles my mind when I am doing this workout is when I start getting tired and want to stop for just a second Jillian will say, "Don't stop now you can do it, and don't turn off your t.v. either. Somehow I think she can see me wanting to stop, but no matter how hard it burns I keep going. I hear Thomas the train in my head saying "I think I can, I think I can."

Last but not least if you have not done this workout video you should know that you go none stop for 20 minutes NO BREAKS, which in the end I think makes it better! Oh and this has nothing to do with the workout, but I gave up POP and man I would kill for a PEPSI right now!

Hope you are having a blessed weekend!

My Resolutions

So here they are....................................................

1. I want to lead a bible study with a small group of girl not sure what book I want to do, but want something upbeat and not dry.

2. I also want to get more out of quiet time, so I think leading a bible study that will help.

3, I want to work on my choice of words. I tend to use some words I would rather not sometimes not a lot, but to more than I like.

4. Being in college one thing I have always struggled with this. going back and forth between home and School is not help find a good church that I like in my college town. I want to find one and atten that one every Sunday.

5. I want to blog more. I LOVE reading blogs and can spend hours doing it, so I think I can handle blogging more. I am going to start a blog day that will be called Tasteful Tuesday. I will share recipes that I have tried lately and plus I just love to cook.

6. Everyone says this but I really do have to lose some weight. The doctor said I need to and I know I do so I am going to do my darnest to. I want to lose 20lbs by April. Hope to lose more than that.

7. Contact my friends as much as possible who do not live in same town as me.

8. Last but not least I want to be more spontanious and do somethings at random whether it short roadtrip or going to the movies!

Happy New Year and may your 2010 be filled with many blessings!

Just call me FABULOUS

I got this fab-u-lous award from my sister Sam over at The Ruby Turtle Hippie Times. I am supposed to list five things that I am obsessed with at the moment!

1. Oklahoma Football- There is nothing like waking up on a Saturday and knowing it's football time in OKLAHOMA. Now I went to high school football games, but there is nothing like going to a college football game. There is so much tradition that takes place and I like it. My freshman year I was lucky that one of my teachers said we had to have a seating chart and two that the person I got put next to me was none other than Demarco Murray it was quite an entertaining semester to say the least. This past weekend I got to experience the Red River Rivalry with a dear friend and what a fun experience it was. Here is a picture from the game.

2. Blogs- I am in love with reading blogs! I don't care what kind of blog I will read it. When I get home from class I check my email, check facebook, and then I read blogs last because they are the best. I am quite fond of this blog below.

3. IPHONE- I want one of these babies sooooooo bad. I am like a kid in a candy store when an advertisement comes on tv. They can do all sorts of things. Someone asked me why a wanted one and I said because the gps, Internet looks like real Internet instead of something completely different and because its COOL! If I was not a POOR college kid I would have already bought one!

4. Grey's Anatomy- Oh how I love this show. It started my senior year and is still going. I am currently watching it as I type. I think that Grey's will go for another season, because of a line that they said in the first season. When they say this line it is one of my favorite parts of all Grey's episodes. My have two favorite characters the first is Dr. Bailey and Dr. George O'Malley, which I am still not happy that he is gone. My my my how new and old characters have come and gone.

5.Dogs- I have a doggie at home that stay at home. On his papers his name reads King Mufasa. I love him so much I wish I could bring him to school with me. In January he will turn 11yrs old. He is my sweet little old man. You can see his little gray hairs on his chin! Did I mention that I would love to have a doggie live with me in my apartment.

I hope you had fun reading all about what I love at the moment! Home you have a lovely evening or better yet lovely morning!

Randomness!!!

So yes I have not updated in a loooong time like 4 months long and I just decided to do a post! It will definitely be random, but it's better than no post at all.

1. It is an absolutely beautiful day outside. Campus looks so pretty and the mums are starting to bloom

2. I finished my last test today for little while.

3. I am so glad fall TV is back on. I love Grey's Anatomy and very sad George is gone! I also love to watch Brothers and Sisters and last but not least Army Wives. I have several others, but not gong to list them all.

4. I had a really good weekend at home and still can't believe Loren and Will are 13! I love my family dearly and would not trade the world for them. Phil 1:3 I thank my God every time I remember you.

5. My roommate today told me that Bobby Flay is SEXY and I about fell in the floor!

6. I wish could go on a major shopping spree. First things I would buy would be the entire collection of Vera Bradley even if I did not the bag or purse etc. I would get it all in Bali Gold! The other thing I would buy would be a pair of chacos!

7. I love to bake and I am in the baking mood, but I do not have any cake mixes :( I want to make that 5 layer rainbow cake MckMama featured on her blog.

8. My best friend might get to come visit the great state of OKLAHOMA! I miss her dearly.

9. I HATE folding clothes. I will wash and dry every one's clothes for them as long as they fold them. When I get a big girl job I will have a folding lady instead of a cleaning lady!

10. I HATE cigarette smoke I said it once and I will say it again if I could only take one thing with me to a deserted island I would take all the cigarettes in the world with me and burn them all and ban smoking forever. ( I literally hold my breath when someone passes me on my way to class and they are smoking!

11. Reese's are my best friend when Aunt Ruby visits!

12. I wish I had a boyfriend!

That's all I got for now!

Walking Allergy Wednesday

As my sister would say, I am a walking allergy! So today in good 'ole Soonerland it was and still is a HOT day. News says it is 92 degrees in Norman, and that is hot compared to what we have normally been experiencing. I even broke out in a sweat walking to class.
Well after class I am crusin down the south oval as fast as I could to get to where my apartment shuttle picks me up. As Iwas am arriving I spotted a small tree with a little shade under it. All the trees around here don't have much shade due to the ice storms we have experienced over the years, so finding shade is not always easy.

I plopped my self down under that tree while I waiteedd. I checked facebook on my phone to kill some time while waiting on the shuttle.I glanced up after about two minutes to see my apartment shuttle headed onto the south oval circle drive. I leave my little shade tree happy as a girl could be when starting to experience a warm day like this.

I get into the shuttle with full blast AC going thank you Jesus for AC and I start to cool down. Then it happens I feel my body start to heat up on my arms and legs. I think Oh no here we go with a breakout of some sort of allergic reaction to something. After I get back to the apartment complex I scurried to my apartment as fast as my little legs could carry me, and find that I have whelps all over me. Here is a pic below of whelps that usually appear. Folks this is a mild case of an allergy attack for me.

I did what I always do when this occurs, which is wipe off all areas where a rash is trying to occur with a cold rag or warm depending on the weather and then put some good ole antibiotic ointment on it. If that does not work then I take a shower in this case today is what I had to do.

I recently had allergy test run on me in January. I did not need it done in my opinion cause I could have told you that I was allergic to everything they were going to stick me with a billion times. Having this test done I found out I am allergic to over 13 different kinds of trees and about 6 different grasses.

So I end with this, I found one of those trees out of 13 and one of those grasses I am allergic to all because I was hot. So from now on I have to park my happy little allergic self on a park bench with no shade in the future. Did I mention I am very hot natured?!?

P.S From now on Wednesday will be the day I tell you all about what one goes through with severe allergies like me.

To Be a Nurse or Not to be

Well that title can really make you wonder what this post is going to be about and considering I have not posted in ohh 3 months I am sure you might be curious!

Well here I go... I am in a Nursing class that I absolutely love! Its a class the takes a look at what is going on in the nursing world right now for instance: shortage of nurses, ethic codes, people having no insurance, and just being a nurse in general, so it not a class on how to learn to start an iv or to give a shot to say the least. One of the things in this class that we are required to do is to take a trip to go tour Health and Science Center and to shadow a nurse in the afternoon in an area we would possibly like to work in.

Before going on this little adventure I have been wondering if this is what i would like to do and if this is where God wants me. So I prayed for the last few weeks before going prayed to God to kind of show me that I am on the right track! So when Friday came I had a lot of nerves built up. One because I did not know exactly what all we would be doing and two because I really hoped I got to shadow a nurse in a field I would love to be in.

We were only told a few things about the day we would have which were you must wear professional clothes, shoes that will be good for walking, and an open mind. I had all of those but was a little close minded.

We arrived and got registered! We then sat and listened to a nursing student which was interesting but lets face it, it was 8:30 and I am not a morning person. I did not fall asleep, but drowsy in the mean time. Then we went to the skills lab which has desks and chairs in the middle then along the walls it looks like a hospital with bed and manikins in them. This is were nursing student learn how to do pretty much everything from starting and iv to learning to have good bed side manners. Oh and I learned how to properly put on a pair of gloves and to keep them sterile!! It was pretty neat considering some of the manikins talked!! But lets face it I was ready to get to the hospital for two reasons one to eat to get some energy and two so I could follow a nurse around.

Lunch ended pretty quickly and now was off to find me a nurse!! I bet you i first walked 5 miles, went on 20 different elevator, 5 stairways to get to my nurse. I got to be with a nurse who worked on the labor and delivery-triage floor. On this floor the nurses are responsible several different things. The can be checking someone to see how far women is in getting ready to delivering or checking a c-section incision. Now i really wanted to be in where someone was pushing out a baby, but I believe that was God's way of saying Jessi you have to start at the beginning and take baby steps to get where you want to be! I did not mention before that I was the last person to get paired up with a nurse and that also was God saying Jessi you got to have some patience in this process in becoming and finding a nurse!

Before ever getting to my nurse we did a tour of some different floors. I went to an adult trauma floor which means any car crashes, stabs gun shot, and four wheeler injuries they get it. We then went to a floor that was G.I. tracking which entails what goes in the mouth and does not come out or internal bleeding that floor gets it. We then went to a floor that I was a little unsure as to what it stood for which was the PICU. The PICU is for pediatrics, basically infants all the way to kids at the age of 21. We toured that hall and I know I looked into every room just to see if anyone was in there. There were 20+ rooms majority of them were full, but one thing I noticed was several were just the kiddos with no families. Another girl on the tour asked if they did not have parents and the nurse said a lot usually more than half don't have parent/families that come in with them. That my friends brought tears to my eyes.

To say the least I had a lot of different emotions that day. Some were happy and some were sad. I would tell you more about the floor I was on but cant really because that is a no no! One last thing though that I will share is when I first got to the nurse I was going to be shadowing, i told her what i was here for and she said ok. Then she said well I need to start and IV in room 1 would you like to do it, and I bought peed my pants. My response was ma'am I don't think you would want to me to do that and let alone that patient digging around in their arm to start an IV because I never done that nor have I been to nursing school yet! She thought I was getting ready to graduate nursing school!

Sorry this is long, but i just had a lot on my heart that I wanted to share! Someone once told me this The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you! And I will leave you with one of my favorite verses: "Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done" I say this God had a lesson for me to start learning or continue to learn through this experience and it is to give all my prayers to him, know that he will not put me in a bad situation and leave me hanging, patience, always start at the beginning and take baby steps, and always to thank him for what he has given me.

A BOY............

So where do I begin...well first sorry for not posting in awhile but here it goes. First of all I have never have had a boyfriend, so in my mind boys have had cooties for a long time. No this does not mean that I have never layed eyes on a cute boy, I just didn't act on it nor did I know how. As I grew up Sam was this one who had a boyfriend not me. So for awhile now I mean almost a year I have liked a guy. I did not tell anyone till about 5 months ago. When I did tell she asked me about a billion questions. She told me that I would probably act on it r get the nerve by Oct/ Nov. Now I am sure your thinkin it has taken you how long to act on this? I know I know, but this is WAY WAY of my comfort zone to ask him to a Phi Lamb event.

Well I did ask and he sad he was not sure if he could because he possibly be out of town. So I was bumbed to say the least, but still had little hope. So the officers and I are there extremely early an we had finished setting up we were learning all different kinds line dances, which is also out of my comfort zone to do a lot of dancing, but I decided I was going to have fun no matter if I knew what I was doin on that dance floor or not. So we were just waiting around for people to show up, because who comes on time to a party. Well about 8 or so I look up and see a particular vehicle pull in. When I say that vehicle that would have been when my heart fell on the ground like that kidney Meredith dropped last week on Grey's. So I picked up my heart put in back in a took a big breath and told myself I can do this.

He failed to say tell me he was coming so when I saw him it caught me way off guard. So to say the least I thought what do I do now. Now Sam is my coach because have no idea what to do with boys except smile at them. So he wandered around and I am thinkin what did Sam say to do...oh yeah talk to him!!!! About the time it dawns on me Jess says Jessi you must go talk to him he will never know so I did. It was good conversation. We talked about some of the most random things, but it was good.
I tried all night to get him to line dance, but he said he didn't know . So there is a whole another story of how we came about slow dancin but it was like the best 3min of my night. Ever since that night when I think about him I just cant stop smiling that's how happy I am about this boy!!
Now I have to get the guts again to ask him to the date party!!!!! YIKES
Here is a picture of me being sassy!!! The other picture is the officers and I!! P.S I had my best duds on and new pair of boots that have yellow on them, which made them even better. I hope you enjoy took me awhile to put on here!! P.P.S how do I add friends!!

Shopping Spree

What girl does not like a shopping spree? I know I do. On Friday my friend and I decided we would go to the mall to do a little shopping. So only things that were holding me up was a test in the morning and lunch before we headed to the mall. All day I was dreaming of what I might find....I really needed to find something for HOEDOWN this coming weekend, I was definitely on the prowl for that. By the way I did not get any new school clothes before started to I was well over due for a trip to the mall and I sold my ou/tx ticket so I had money burning a whole in my pocket.

First stop was Lane Bryant!!! Let me just say I hate trying in clothes in just waste a lot shopping time, but it keeps you from returning a billion things. So I was very successful I got 2bras which I hate shopping for but hey got to keep the Judds in place. Then I got two camis one black and one white, 2 pairs of jeans that are not tight in the thighs or caves...Praise him! I tried on this dressy black top with everything, so by the time I was done it had grown on me so I had to get it to. Oh i also got this thing that just goes around your shoulders kinda like a jacket thing...sorry I don't know what it is called I am not a fashion expert. Those poor ladies who had to clean up in my dressing rooms their poor little soles.

Second stop was of course to get a drink because let face it trying on clothes stressful.
Third stop was at the AT & T booth I got a new phone cover I have been looking for forever!
Fourth stop was shoe store not successful. :( I am still looking for my boots for hoedown!!
Fifth stop was Forever 21 I needed some sunglasses all I could ind there were the ones that eat my face so that was not successful but that's okay.

Last stop of the day was Old Navy!! Praise Jesus for sales... I am telling ya they knew I was coming to the mall to find some bargins!!! They had like all their shirts for 10 bucks!!!! I think I got 7 including an undershirt!!!

All in all it was a very successful day at the mall. I had to tell somebody, because I am so excited for my knew stuff!!!!

P.S I DID NOT buy one pair of shoes or a purse, but don't think that I did not have money for them I just couldn't find that perfect pair(S) of shoes or purse.

P.P.S I also did not go to the hallmark store to look for something new in vera either, but have no fear I did not forget it I was just pooped!!!

I like to buy a stamp please!!!

So the other day I needed to mail somthing and I was on the reserves but headed back to the apartment, and I remembered that mailman is always there when I get back on Wed. I thought well I will just get one from him! Needless to say here is the conversation between the mailman and I!

Me: Excuse me sir can I buy a stamp from you please? ( I had my 42cents in my hand)
Mailman: I don't have one.
Me: Huh...(to myself I thought did he just say he does not have a stamp?) So I asked again cause
I thought he did not here me. So I asked again if he had a stamp.
Mailman: NO I dont have one!
Me: Okay (BTW I stood there for about a min. because I could not believe he didnt have a
stamp. My mouth was wide open as well and I was completly dumb founded!

So luckly reserves had a stamp for me! So for the rest of the day I just kept saying to myself over and over how does a mailman not have a stamp...like HELLO you are a mailman it is just understood you have an extra one. NOOOO not the reserves mailman!!! So to say the least I still dont know why that MAILMAN does not have extra stamps.

Random Thoughts!!!

Alright so lets just start with the weekend. Oh one disclaimer if you find typos my computer keyboard is messed up. I know how to type.Okay weekend. Well I rolled my lovely self at bed at exactly 10:30 just enough time to throw clothes on, somewhat make the hair look good, grabbed the shades and headed to catch the shuttle from the reserves to make my 11:30 class, which was abolutly draining. I looked like a hot mess.We watched some lame clipand it did not work hal the time so needless to say I took a little snooze. After that walked back outside of beautiful Gaylord Hall and headed to the "Waiting Spot" for the reserves bus to stop. I climb on and head home.

I tell myself...self when you get back you must eat lunch then get some reading done before the company arrives. I eat and as i eat i get this awful headache and it went done hill from there. Although Idid get a shower in Needless to say I did not get my reading done before company arrived, but thats okay! So I love opening the door and seeing Sam and Brandon with there arms full of stuff, out of breather due to stairs, and hear them say"Its about time you open the door!" S we head to eat a delicous...yet pricey buger! By this time a friend has met up with us and we are going to a movie.

The movie ending pissed me off therefore i did not cry so thats all i have to say about that.

Now it is Saturday morning....I got to sleep in Praise Jesus! We messed around waited for more company to get here aka Loren Will and my mom!!!! We let them open open one gift before we went out for bday dinner and hello to watch OU FOOTBALL!! We are now number ONE! Then Sunday we grabbed lunch at the DELPH then off to the mall for shopping!!! I love shopping but ot when you dont get anything, but thats okay i will treat myself vey soon. Then the sad part company leaves and back to homework.BLAH! I was so glad to see those lovely faces.

So it was a weekend filled with family, friends, burgers, and OU football!!! I already know what my next post is going to be about...yes you can pat me on the back!!!
